Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how mypropertee collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and website.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: email address, username, phone number, and country when you register.
- Identity verification: your National Identification Number (NIN), encrypted at rest, and your official name from the NIMC registry.
- Location data: GPS coordinates and polygon boundaries you draw to document property claims.
- Property data: claim details, boundary coordinates, and location metadata you submit.
- Conversation data: messages exchanged through the platform regarding property claims.
- Payment information: transactions are processed by Paystack or Flutterwave. We do not store card details.
- Device information: device type and OS version for troubleshooting.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and maintain the mypropertee platform
- To verify your identity against government records (NIMC via Dojah)
- To match property searches to verified claimants
- To resolve disputes and maintain claim history
- To process payments via Paystack, Flutterwave, or cryptocurrency
- To send notifications about your claims and account
3. NIN Storage and Encryption
Your National Identification Number (NIN) is encrypted at rest using industry-standard symmetric encryption (Fernet/AES). A one-way SHA-256 hash of your NIN is stored separately to enable account revival lookup — this hash cannot be reversed to obtain your NIN. Your NIN is only transmitted to the Dojah verification service for the sole purpose of confirming your identity against the NIMC database.
4. Data Preservation After Account Deletion
You have the right to delete your account at any time. When you do, we apply a two-tier policy:
No claim or conversation history: all your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted.
Existing claim or conversation history: if you have ever held a property claim, been a co-claimant, or participated in a conversation about a property, the following are retained indefinitely even after account deletion:
- Your property claim records and boundary coordinates
- Your verified identity (official name and NIN verification status)
- Conversation history involving your claims
This data may constitute legal evidence in property disputes, court proceedings, or government enquiries. Retaining it protects both you and other parties involved.
Your email address and username are reserved — they cannot be registered by any other user. Your phone number is freed for reuse (phone numbers are recycled by carriers). Your personal access to the platform is removed immediately.
If you verified your NIN before deleting, you may restore your account and all associated records at any time by verifying the same NIN during a new registration.
This policy is disclosed at registration and constitutes part of our legal basis for retention under the principle of legitimate interests.
5. Privacy in Search Results
Your identity is never disclosed to searchers without your consent. Search results return only user identifiers — never names. Your name is only revealed through the explicit "Identity Reveal" consent mechanism, which requires mutual agreement from both parties in a conversation.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Dojah: for NIN verification against NIMC (your NIN and provided name only)
- Paystack / Flutterwave: for payment processing (transaction amount and account reference only)
- Supabase: for secure database storage
- AWS: for document and file storage
- Government or legal authorities when required by valid legal order
7. Permissions We Request
- Camera: to photograph property documents for claim submissions.
- Photo Library: to upload existing documents and images for claims.
- Location: to accurately place property boundaries on the map.
- Biometrics (Face ID / Fingerprint): optional, to unlock your session without re-entering your password.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit, and AES/Fernet encryption for sensitive data at rest. Access to the production database is restricted to authorised personnel only. We conduct regular security reviews.
9. Children's Privacy
mypropertee is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account (subject to the preservation clause in section 4 above)
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@mypropertee.com.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use of mypropertee after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
